" Mickey Carey was a cousin to my dad and played the organ on a radio station in Pottsville and in the Circle bar also in Pottsville.. Dentist may have been a cousin. There was a MD Carey who was killed in the 40's or 50's responding to a call as his car crashed on an icy road. I am 70 yrs old now and most of the Carey families in Lost creek were not related other than bro/sis or grandparents.

The Devitts that I remember live in Lost Creek on the west end on a dirt road with only three houses on it. This was a time when the cola banks werte growing large and invading homes , in fact, driving people out. A lot of people called this area Plunkett (really a area of Lost Creek on the west end) John Devitt liveon that back road west of my parents . My parents lived on High Road which for some reason last year was name Mt Laural Blvd. Mary Devitt was his wife.. Katherine Devitt married a buddy of mine Dean Woods and moved to NJ last i knew Dean retired as a school principle. Devitts and the Hanleys were related and lived beside each other when i was growing up. My Dad was John D. Carey and My mom Tteresa, there were about 6 John Carey's in the area when I was growing up."
