Harry and Pauline were not married when they came over on the same boat.
They most likely married shortly afterwards. In New York or Pa.

The ship name was Rhein it saled from Bremen, Germany and arriving in N. Y city. They arrive Sept 3 1869. Henry worked as a stone masion, he had several business. He also was in political office for some time.

The story, that was passed down, was the Henry was a stone cutter, and jeweler and worked with his father. Someone robbed them of jewels. Henry and his brother hung the thief and later decided to flee the country. If this, is true, we have no idea. Sounds more like a good story then a true one.

We were also told that the family inherited a large amount from this family but were unable to collect it, due to the war. This is all stories. No prove has been found.

William his youngest son died at age 34 married with one child, not much is known about his wife or only son.

His sons both worked in the stone trade with him and Harry eventually become Head of Detective's his son in law Chief of Police.

He lived with his granddaughter when older in age and held and office in upstate Pennsylvania.

He was of Lutheran Faith.: They lived next story the the founder of Bachman Pretzel.
Bachman Bios -He changed his last name to Bachman, and he lived with his wife, Margaret, and his father-in-law, Thomas Sattler, at 351 North 11th Street in Reading, PA
In 1884, J.S. Bachman started his little bakery in reading, making fine quality pretzels by hand and delivering them in a horse-drawn cart

You will see them on the census in 1880 and 1900 as Bachman, living next store to Henry and Pauline.
