Eileen P. Connors, 80, formerly of
East Benjamin Avenue, Conyngham, died peacefully Friday evening in the loving arms of her
daughter, Ann, at Fritzinger Senior Living Community, Drums.
Born in Lost Creek, she was a daughter of the late Patrick Jerome and Nora Dean Neary.
She was a member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Conyngham, and was a Eucharistic
minister and served on the altar linen committee of the parish.
She was co-founder of the Young At Heart Group, a member of Butler Township Senior
Citizens and Hazleton Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and a volunteer for the
American Red Cross. She was an honorary member of Conyngham VFW.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J., in 1984; a sister, Margaret Mary
Stouffer, in 1971; a sister-in-law, Margaret Mengel, in 1994; a brother-in-law, William
Connors, in 2003.
Surviving are a son, Patrick J. Connors and his wife, Elaine, Dothan, Ala.; daughters, Ann
Corazza, Sugarloaf, and Kathleen McElwee, Hummelstown; eight grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Bosco Roman
Catholic Church, Conyngham, with the Rev. John Manno as celebrant and the Rev. John Ryan
as concelebrant. A public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of
services in the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Arrangements are
under the direction of John J. Pusti Funeral Home Inc., 480 W. Broad St., Hazleton.
Memorial contributions to St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, 573 State Route 93,
Conyngham, PA 18219, would be appreciated.
