Services for William E. Smith, 78, of 424 Water St., Mahanoy Plane, who died Tuesday at Ashland Regional Medical Center, Fountain Springs, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Robert M. McDonald Funeral Home, Girardville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Girardville, by the Rev. Robert Kuzmann. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Born in Mahanoy Plane, he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary Carey Smith. He retired from Ashland State General Hospital. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Martina McLane, in 1970; a son, John, in 1989; three brothers, Daniel, Jonas and Joseph; a sister, Anna Smith. Surviving are a son, Patrick, Girardville; two daughters, Martina Briggs, Bloomsburg, and Susan Bradley, Mahanoy Plane; three brothers, John, Sullivan County, Robert, Mahanoy Plane, and Michael, Ashland; a sister, Frances Green, Girardville; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins. |
